You want to go green, conserve energy, and join the movement to build a sustainable future for people and the planet.
You also want a gorgeous home that you can feel proud of.
At CertainTeed, we reject the idea that you can’t have both. In fact, we think it’s critical that the sustainable building materials we make also offer the very best in beauty and style, because we want our customers to love their homes for years to come.
That’s why we created our Landmark® Solaris® Cool Roof solar-reflective shingles in deep, rich, vibrant colors—so you don’t have to sacrifice style to embrace sustainability.
Going Green Never Looked so Good
The cool roof version of our popular Landmark shingle, Solaris is a wood shake-inspired, solar-reflective asphalt shingle. These shingles can reflect more than 40 percent of UV rays—far more than traditional roofing shingles—thanks to a special granule surface blend.
Not only do Solaris Cool Roof shingles keep homes cooler in hot months and sunny climates, but they also create a stunning roof. With a heavy-weight, dual-layered design that emulates the dimensionality of true wood shake, Solaris adds lasting beauty to your home.
Your Roof Should Reflect Your Style
A roof is a major investment. The last thing you want is to be stuck with an eyesore for years to come. Solaris Cool Roof shingles are available in a wide range of colors so you can gain the benefits of solar reflectivity without limiting your design options.
We are particularly proud of two nationally available colors in our palette: Graphite and Weathered Wood. Why these colors? Because they are deep, rich, and dark—and reflective shingles rarely come in dark hues.
Our team of engineers and designers rose to the challenge to meet demand for dark roofing materials with high reflectivity. Now you can invest in cool roof technology without giving up the aesthetic you want for your home.
Solaris Graphite
Solaris Graphite is an elegant new color that makes a confident statement. Equally at home on a comfortable modern farmhouse or a sleek mid-century retake, the raw, organic look of Graphite is a truly versatile choice.
Named for the natural material formed from carbon, Graphite is a deep, dark, sophisticated shade of gray. It’s perfect for bold color schemes as well as clean, minimalist exteriors.
Solaris weathered wood
Solaris Weathered Wood is a natural, rustic new color reminiscent of a sun-washed seaside village. A subtle variegated mix of granules create the classic look of wood shake tempered by age and the elements. This warm neutral blend of browns and grays works with a variety of color palettes and designs, from traditional to modern.
Deep shades. high reflectivity.
The push for sustainable construction practices is leading more and more cities to update building codes to require energy-efficient materials. Often known as “cool roof” or “white roof” policies, many places now require new roofs to have solar reflectivity values of 40% or higher. We developed Solaris Cool Roof shingles to meet some of the strictest building codes in the United States while still offering a full spectrum of shingle colors—not just white.
Solaris Cool Roof shingles are designed to comply with California Title 24, Part 6, Cool Roof requirements (per the California Energy Commission). Select colors, including Graphite and Weathered Wood, can also be used to comply with LA county 31 standards and other green building program requirements. Landmark Solaris also meets the regulatory benchmarks in Austin, Dallas, Chicago, Denver, Hawaii, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and elsewhere.
When you combine CertainTeed’s forward-thinking innovation with our full range of appealing color options, you can design your home any way you like while still meeting local code ordinances, shrinking your carbon footprint, and reducing your electricity bill.
What Is cool roof technology?
Throughout the day, the sun beats down on your home. Any heat that is absorbed through your roof will warm your house and drive up your air conditioning use, increasing your monthly energy bills.
Solaris Cool Roof shingles feature sustainable shingle granule technology that reflects solar energy and radiant heat rather than absorbing it. They can reflect more than 40 percent of the sun’s rays for some of the best energy-saving cool roof performance in the industry. This forward-thinking technology can lower roof temperatures and allow homeowners to reduce cooling costs without sacrificing beauty or quality.
On top of the energy-saving performance, Solaris Cool Roof technology also reduces UV degradation, so shingles last longer. If you’re seeking peace of mind, you need look no further than our highly durable Landmark Solaris Cool Roof shingles, which also feature:
- QuadraBond technology to firmly secure the layers of each shingle together, helping roofs stand up to wind and weather.
- StreakFighter® technology for long-term protection against the unsightly black streaks caused by algae formation.
- CertaSeal high-grade adhesive to seal shingles together on the roof and safeguard against wind uplift, shingle blow off, and moisture infiltration.
